Installation of the Dice.py Project

This project is a simple dice rolling application in Python that uses images from https://farlands.itch.io/dice. To get started with Dice.py, follow the installation steps below.

Prerequisites

Before installing the project, ensure you have Python installed on your system. You can download Python from python.org.

Installation Steps

You can download for windows without python here!

  1. Clone the GitHub repository to your local machine using the following command:

    git clone https://github.com/milosnowcat/dice.py.git
    
  2. Navigate to the project directory:

    cd dice.py
    
  3. Install the project dependencies using pip:

    pip install -r requirements.txt
    

That’s it! You have successfully cloned the Dice.py project with the required dice images inside the assets folder.


Using the Dice.py Project

Dice.py is a simple dice rolling application in Python. Follow these steps to roll the dice and view different images.

Playing with Dice

  1. Open a terminal or command prompt and navigate to the directory where you cloned the Dice.py project.

  2. Run the game by executing the Python script:

    python main.py
    
  3. The game will open a graphical user interface (GUI) displaying an initial image (e.g., a cat image).

  4. Click the “Roll Dice” button to roll the virtual dice.

  5. The application will randomly select one of the dice images from the “assets/images/” directory and display it in the GUI.

  6. Continue clicking the “Roll Dice” button to view different dice images.

Exiting the Application

To exit the application, simply close the application window by clicking the close button (X) in the top-right corner of the window.
